Telling NOT Selling
You will not be asked to purchase anything. The purpose of this site is to share information in hopes of inspiring a grassroots change in how people manage their careers and are being managed. This will make more sense later.
Hello and welcome...
My name is Jeff Garton. Growing up in rural West Virginia I thought my career might be spent underground in a coal mine or outside in the oil and gas fields—and neither appealed to me.
I dreamed of working for companies that made the exciting products I saw advertised on TV. My particular interest was in HR, where I hoped to learn what makes some people more likable than others and how they succeed despite life's challenges and disappointments.
Thanks to Kraft Foods and the Miller Brewing Company, I achieved the career I envisioned, gaining something far more valuable than anticipated.
What I discovered about people and their success didn’t always align with the guidance I received from my parents, teachers, and even my blue-chip HR training. Something was missing.
Then, when I was tasked with helping to plan a layoff, a group of my coworkers who were at risk of losing their jobs, unexpectedly disclosed what I hadn’t realized I was searching for. The missing something was right before us all along, yet we failed to see it.
How People Naturally...
Discern their life’s purpose.
Instinctively know which jobs to choose and when to leave.
Motivate how they manage their careers autonomously.
Sustain their well-being and performance when disappointed.
All without regard to whether they have or lack job satisfaction.
What I learned is still not being taught when it should be. People are not bound by their deficit circumstances but are unleashed through the control of their THOUGHTS.
This is my story.
Getting Started
